Everyone always has the best intentions when it comes to resolutions…we start off ambitious, energized and ready to kick off the new year with a bang. I’ve had the same resolution approximately 3 years running…I have resolved (year after year) to tame my “potty” mouth. What’s that famous quote? “She acts like a princess, but swears like a sailor?” Yeah…I have a problem. So….I suppose, I will resolve to stop swearing…(as much)…again this year.
Here are a few hints to get you started on what your resolution (s) should be in 2016….
1.) Resolve to eliminate one person, activity or thing that doesn’t lift you up. If they (or it) brings you down more than up…cut it out. I love the quote that says, “Pay close attention to people who don’t clap when you win.” Surround yourself with people and activities that make your heart smile. 🙂
2.) Resolve to be kind. It’s simple. Just do it.
3.) Resolve to give more than you receive. The easiest way to be happier…is to give.
4.) Resolve to read more to your kids. Period.
5.) Resolve to save at least $100 per paycheck. Or, make an extra mortgage payment in 2016. What isn’t there, you won’t miss.
6.) Try to go 1 week without gossiping in 2016. Ohhhhh…this is a tough one!
7.) Use up all the unhealthy, processed, boxed food in your home…and never buy it again. Learn to use REAL ingredients. I’ll do my best…but mac and cheese in a box is this mama’s “I’m too tired” meal.
8.) Sign up for a class…get involved…whether it be exercise, art, cooking…just do it. You’ll probably hang out with people you never normally would and that expands us!
9.) Take a vacation…it might be camping in a nearby park or it may be an exotic trip of a lifetime you’ve been putting off due to lack of time. The TIME IS NOW…there might not be a tomorrow.
10.) Have date night with your husband at least once a month. I’ve read we should have date night once a week…but that’s a failed resolution right off the bat for this mama.
Whatever you choose to resolve in 2016…I wish you the happiest and healthiest year ever and I’m rooting for your resolution’s success!
