As much as I love summer sun something about all that comes with fall is welcomed in my home. The warmth of the glow of mustard, brick red, and brown add a cozy feel to your home. So it is nearing the time to put away the crisp whites and baby blues of summer and bring in a touch of fall. Fall always says abundance to me but the style trend is simple and clean, away with clutter. Here are some great ways to bring in the new season that are in sync with the current home decor trends!
Change up your fabric and patterns! Add heavier fabrics, warmer colors, and seasonal patterns by changing out pillows, throws, and bedding perhaps. Plaids, mixed metallics, and animal print is popular.
Add fall floral by using leaves, branches, and vines that mimic the beauty of the changing trees and plants outdoors. Pull in those gorgeous autumn colors like orange, dark reds, mustard, and sage. Floral is a great way to add texture and color to any room! Try adding floral to your bathroom and bedrooms too for extra elegance.
Trays and bowls on your tables are a must. You can hardly page through an decor magazine without seeing this #1 home accent any more. So easy and functional to use in any style of home.
Mustard is a must for fall 2016! This color is so fun because it still embraces the vibrance of summer but we just soften the yellow hue now. It also is a great color for contrast and seems to pair in more modern style homes vs. oranges. Try introducing mustard into your fall line up. Design tip: When introducting a new color in a room use it three times so it looks more intentional.
Lanterns EVERYWHERE! Indoor and out all lanterns and use them for more than just candles. Use them like a terrarium with a bittersweet vine or pumpkins. You could also add florals and bows to the outside for some flair. Battery operated flicker candles and resin outdoor candles on timers are a great asset to your lanterns so they are always glowing.
Glass vases and containers to soften your space. If the glass has a hint of a color to it you get an A+.
Cotton picks, wreaths, and garland made ever so popular by Miss Joanna Gaines. Cotton is trending in general, but will be THE showstopper in your home for fall.
The first thing guest notice is how your house SMELLS! First impressions should be a great one so make sure to light that pumpkin scented candle or get a pot of chili on the stove.
